You Don't Know? Car Wrap Facts (FAQs)

questionsIn the last few weeks, I kept hearing the same quote: "You don't know what you don't know."  It's made me realize that I didn't always necessarily let others know what I know about car wrapping.  Here are some of the great questions I've been asked:

Q. What is a wrap?

A. It's basically a giant, high quality sticker that we print in sheets, and literally shrink wrap it to your car.

Q. Will the vehicle wrap affect or damage the paint job?

A. No at all, the car wrapping vinyl will actually protect the paint that it's covering. Professional removal is also recommended.

Q. How long will the wrap last?

A. That depends on the quality of the material and the car wrap installation. We only use premium wrap material, so under normal circumstances the wrap will last 3-5 years.  A professional installation is also key as the potential for material failure increases if the installer is not trained or certified.

Q. How can the windows be covered and still be able to see out of them?

A. The material used on the windows is actually a printable perforated window film.  There are tiny holes that allow for one way viewing so you can safely see out while driving, and the onlooker will see your beautiful graphics. Keep in mind it's not the same as looking through clear glass so you might experience a little blurriness.

Q. Do I need to wrap the entire vehicle?

A. No, partial vehicle wraps are also highly effective advertising medium.  In the case of the partial wrap, the color of the car is taken into account when the wrap is designed. We've seen all kinds of partials: Tailgates, front end only, back end only, just the rear quarter panels.  Many depend on the vehicle's available space (i.e. Honda vs. Sprinter Van)

Q. If my vehicle is in an accident, can the wrap be repaired?

A. Yes.  We can re-print the necessary sections of the wrap that need repair. Often insurance will cover the cost as well.

Q. How long will it take to wrap my vehicle?

A. A full wrap will take 1-2 days depending on the size of the vehicle being wrapped.

Q. Will I need to have commercial insurance if my vehicle is wrapped?

A. That varies state to state.  The best thing to do is check with your state and insurance professional.

Q. What if I don't know what I want for a vehicle wrap design?

A. At Sunrise, we have an in-house vehicle wrap design staff for just those conundrums. However, if you are working with a company that offers an experienced designer, make sure your designer has experience with vehicle wrap design.

Q. What if my vehicle is not local to your install facility?

A. We have a nationwide network of professional vehicle wrap installers. The graphics will be printed and shipped out to a location convenient to your vehicle.  We arrange the install for you.

Q. How soon can I have the car wrap installed?

A. Upon final artwork approval, we typically will have your wrap ready for installation in 5-7 business days.
