Viva la Car Wraps: How to choose the right Car Wrap

car wrap graphics"Oh," she says, "you do those cool car wrap things?"  Yes, we do.  From design consult, to proofs to production and installation, we do car wraps.  If you're wondering, a car wrap is basically a large format digital print on a vinyl material that is ‘wrapped' around a vehicle.  I often get questions about what a ‘wrap' is, so I just want to clarify the three basic categories.

First, there is basic vinyl lettering.  This is your logo, phone number, website and/or address placed onto the vehicle.  Usually, we do this in a few places, such as the sides (2) and rear.  Vinyl lettering may be cut vinyl (one solid color) or a digital print.  Digital prints are used when there is not a good color match for your logo color (i.e. bright magenta pink.)  In New Jersey, vinyl lettering is required on all commercial vehicles.

Second, partial vehicle wraps take lettering to the next level.  You might add a splash of color behind the logo or do a graphical image that plays on the companies' product or services.  I have seen painters do splotches of paint, exterminators use gross scary bugs and landscapers edge the bottom of their trucks with grass.  Simply, we are taking a partial area of the vehicle and wrapping it.  An example might be the back panels of a van, or just the tailgate of a truck.

Finally, the full vehicle wrap is my most common request.  Let's go back to the ‘present' reference.  We literally wrap your whole vehicle in vinyl.  This is best when you want to incorporate several graphical images into one design.  We choose a background to tie it all together, then strategically place the designs on your vehicle to give you the most bang for your, um, car wrap buck.

How do you choose which of the Car Wraps is right for you?  My clients tell me they consider the use of the vehicle.  If it is personal and commercial, lettering is usually their choice. If it is solely commercial, a full vehicle wrap grabs the most attention and produces the most leads.  Partial vehicle wraps are almost always the common fleet vehicle branding choice.  Hey, even if you really can't decide, a partial wrap is like the medium size coke; I'd rather have a little left than be thirsty, wouldn't you?

If you need more advice on which is what when it comes to vinyl lettering, vehicle wraps, car wraps, fleet vehicle branding in Philadelphia, South Jersey, or Delaware, post me a comment.
